On February 28-29, 2024 the Surfrider Foundation hosted our eighth annual Coastal Recreation Hill Day! Hundreds of Surfrider activists from chapters and student clubs across the country met with our elected representatives in Congress to carry forward your demand for clean water and healthy beaches for ALL. This year was be a virtual event to promote widespread access for and participation from our vast network.
This Hill Day continues the lasting legacy of Surfrider’s annual federal advocacy event, which has engaged over 1,000 activists in 1,012 bipartisan meetings with federal elected officials since 2016. Not only do these impactful events put coastal protection on the national agenda, they provide valuable, life-long skills that empower and inspire participants, including training in public speaking, civic engagement, advocacy, and community building.

Support the BEACH Act to fund beach water quality testing and public notification programs across the nation; and provide the support and flexibility necessary for states to monitor their beaches where public health is most at risk from polluted water.
Pass the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act to ban the release of pre-production plastic pellets from plastic manufacturing, processing and transport facilities. Currently, trillions of plastic pellets are released in to our nation's waterways each year.
Prohibit New Offshore Oil Drilling in US waters off the West Coast, East Coast and Eastern Gulf of Mexico to protect coastal communities and marine wildlife from oil spills, toxic drilling muds and exacerbated impacts of climate change.
